The Road To Resilience

By Dr. Aretoula Fullam

How do people deal with difficult events that bring changes to their lives? And, how do people deal with this change easily while others find it extremely difficult to deal with? For example, many people find it difficult to accept the death of a loved one, loss of a job, serious illness, a traumatic experience, and many other challenging life experiences. Many people find these events so threatening and they react to them with charged emotions, clattered mental activity and a sense of “unknowing and uncertainty.”

Yet, the ability to adapt to challenging conditions, even stressful situations is built into their system! The ability to adapt is innate, and it has been witnessed throughout the years. And yet, people, find it difficult to use the gained wisdom to free them selves from the intense emotionality and stay bound like Prometheus having the eagle to eat their liver every day, only to find it being regenerated during the night!

What enables this regeneration that is being ignored? What allows health and life to come back and being ignored? What enables the few to take off in the morning with a healthy liver and start living again? It is resilience, an ability to proceed despite all odds that requires discipline of the mind and body and looking life through a new lens.

Resilience is the ability to be flexible mentally and physically and to adapt well to change even when the change is an adverse event, a traumatic experience, a tragedy and even stressors. Stressors can have many sources, for example, health problems, education, relationships, work environment, family, financial challenges, environmental, etc.

Research has shown that resilience is not extraordinary. It is a feeling of security that comes from within. It is not a feeling of security depending on external sources or events. After all, the treats are coming from all these events that are external to self. Being resilient means that a person makes a choice to take steps despite the emotional pain and sadness. It does not mean that people are unemotional, or do not experience distress or suffering. Contrary, it involves thoughts and actions that are easy to be learned and developed by anyone.

People who graduate from the Silva Method Seminars are known to be resilient. This is not a trait that people either have or do not have. This is an ability that everybody can develop through mind discipline. People learn to think outside of the box and see possibilities that are not accessible when one thinks in the same dimension when one acts. They learn to do their thinking at the alpha brain wave frequency, which is appropriate for thinking, and then take action at the beta brain wave frequency, which is ideal for acting. You see, most of the people who are not resilient, think and act in the same beta level, and find it very difficult to adapt to the new circumstances. However, when they develop self-mind discipline and learn to do their thinking in a dimension that is free from the limitations of time and space, in the alpha level of inner consciousness, then new doors open for them and they are able to accept the unpleasant situation and proceed with the gained wisdom to reach higher levels of growth and success. People, easily adapting to the new situation and using the change to build upon the new conditions and go further experience resilience.

The Silva graduate realizes at the end of the seminar that the only security is the one found within. No outside agent whether it is government, employer, money, insurance, or relationship can offer security, unless it come from within and the knowledge that one is connected with the source of everything, or High Intelligence and is able to get feedback from this Source. All the external sources are simply providing a temporary stepping-stone. Reassurance and trust in one self offer empowerment and resilience to adapt to the new situation and resilience to use the new situation to soar high again, higher than where one was before the challenge.

With the Silva Life System mental tools, one is able to get information from the Other Side through the developed Effective Sensory Projection of the Mind, a faculty of Human Intelligence and get information for the next steps as to how to achieve the new goals. Trusting one’s intuition is true security and wisdom.

Through the problem solving techniques one is able to find creative solutions to problems by building resilience and arrive where one is aiming easily and without suffering. One is using emotions as guidance, not as a springboard to react.

Developing resilience through success after success is a personal journey. The Silva Method Seminars whether is the Silva Life System or the UltraMind ESP, provide the foundation to develop resilience and gain wisdom from one’s life journey. Not everybody’s journey is the same; however, the techniques are valid and reliable researched scientifically for 25 years and tested in different life situations, universally, around the globe for 60 years.

Dr. Fullam has more than 20 years of experience in the use of the Silva Method techniques and is teaching people to be resilient and empowered to live a life of their design, a life of happiness, health and success. She is teaching people how to change their perspective, their attitude, and see life through a different lens that allows them to see their greatness and abilities to be creative and successful. By changing our perspective about things we free ourselves from frustration and stress and the outer change that we so strongly desire is easier to achieve as there is so much more power and energy when the mental work is done at the alpha level of inner consciousness than the beta level of action. With Dr. Fullam’s guidance, people achieve their goals and move in the direction they want to go.
Every adversity is an opportunity for self-discovery and propulsion to move ahead. Being passive and waiting for the problems to go away is never happening. Learning to center yourself, your thoughts and emotions, allows you to take wise actions towards the direction of accomplishing your goals. Learning to detach from the stressful situation and make a thorough study of the problem on your mental screen allows you to see far beyond the problem and the solution. This allows you to build better relationships, greater sense of strength, increased sense of self-worth, a more developed spirituality and heightened appreciation of life. The successful application of the techniques with the professional expertise in psychology of Dr. Fullam, you are able to find the inner core to nurture a positive view of yourself that helps you to develop confidence in your ability to solve problems and trusting your intuition helps build resilience. In the light of resilience and the developed optimistic outlook you only expect good things to happen in your life. The art and science of visualizing what you want instead of what your fear to happen is strengthening your resilience. As you develop confidence in your mind’s ability to be your best ally in life you find yourself engaging in activities you enjoy and find relaxing. You find that you are a very special and unique person — the one you always were but failed to see with the physical eyes – and that you love to keep your mind and body geared towards situations that require resilience and success. You learn to pay attention to your own needs and feelings and you discover that you are the one responsible for what you attract in your life. This is empowering, because now you know what to attract, how to change what you do not want, and how to be successful.

Dr. Aretoula Fullam is a psychologist, with expertise in health and personality; she is trained at Harvard Medical School and New Jersey Medical School. She authored many articles and conducted research in resilience. Most of the article above is coming from her research in resilience and inner security developed through an internal working model of sensitive, respectful and loving environment.

She trained in the Silva Method from Dr. Jose Silva and had mentors and teachers Dr. Harry F. McKnight, Nelda Sheets, the very first and legendary Silva Method Instructors, and Burt Goldman, the American Monk. She was nominated and honored as a Hero in Rockland County New York/Northern New Jersey for her continued help, support and empowerment of people with disabilities and special needs who receive scholarships to attend the Silva Method training and make positive changes in their lives. Dr. Fullam resides in New Jersey and is teaching all the Silva Method Seminars nationally and internationally.

    Dear Dr. Fullam,

My wife Liza and I are both BLS graduates. We live in the Netherlands. In the first days of March this year Liza noticed sight problems in her left eye. After an MRI scan she was diagnosed with infection of the optical nerve as a result of MS. The neurologist said the number of white spots in the MRI shows she must have had MS for at least ten years, but she never had any trouble. She was treated with prednison infusion for 5 days and reacted very well to that. Her eyesight is now almost 100% back to normal. Can you tell us how to use Silva in order to minimise MS problems in the future?

Thanks in advance and greetings to all,
    Sjaak and Liza

    Dear Sjaak and Liza,

The best way to use the Silva Method is to be able to go to a deep alpha level with conscious awareness where you can use your mind dynamically and consciously. Then you can use the Mirror of the Mind to create a visual imagery of the end result and white frame it after you had done a thorough study of the problem at the blue frame mirror. From then on you visualize the imagined end result with enthusiasm, and faith, ie., desire belief and expectancy.

    Warm Regards
