Successful Weight Loss In 4 Parts

istock_000002809506smallSummer’s com­ing up and all of us want our beach bod­ies to be in per­fect shape. But weight loss isn’t just about eat­ing less or going to the gym every sin­gle day.

I want to touch on some­thing a lit­tle more seri­ous. Now look­ing good and feel­ing good isn’t just a super­fi­cial goal.  Obe­sity is dan­ger­ous and is often the rea­son for heart dis­ease, depres­sion, and an early death.

But just how does one lose weight in the safest and most pos­i­tive way?

As a human being, you are mul­ti­fac­eted and in order to lose weight you need to look as good as you feel.  What many peo­ple fail to real­ize is that their main obsta­cles to los­ing weight are often emo­tional or spiritual.

Like I said, it’s not always about the calo­ries you put into your body.  That is just one aspect of your well-being and weight loss. Your phys­i­cal well­ness is tied directly to other parts of your life and together they make up 4 vital com­po­nents of your health and well-being.

These 4 parts of your health are:

  • Phys­i­cal
  • Men­tal
  • Spir­i­tual
  • Emo­tional

I want to stress the last part: your emo­tional part.  Many peo­ple neglect this to their detri­ment.  Addic­tions, depres­sion, and overeat­ing are often the symp­tom of unre­solved emo­tional issues. We live in a soci­ety that urges peo­ple to repress their emo­tions and there is often a neg­a­tive stigma attached to the word, emo­tional. But in order to make your weight loss plan suc­cess­ful, you will need to con­front your emo­tional issues and deal with them.

Now that you are aware of your 4 com­po­nents, you need to inte­grate them to form a weight loss plan that will be safe and sus­tain­able for you.

But before you design your pro­gram, you need to read over this report on weight man­age­ment because it will be cru­cial to how suc­cess­ful your weight loss will be.

    A fifth cat­e­gory — social — may be apro­pri­ate to add to Phys­i­cal, Men­tal, Spir­i­tual and Emo­tional as we are almost always in rela­tion to oth­ers. Sur­round­ing your­self with peo­ple who are encour­ag­ing, and maybe even health care pro­fes­sion­als can be most helpful.

    This couldn’t be more on the mark, Laura. We often pride our­selves on how phys­i­cally fit we are and how much we can lift, or how fast we can run and for how long or how far, but the moment we real­ize that we are emo­tion­ally weak, it no longer mat­ters any­more. Thriv­ing on the focus of “us” can’t be any truer to be able to be fully suc­cess­ful in what we deem to be our goals in well­ness. Great article!

    Absolutely right on the mark Laura. When we let neg­a­tive emo­tions dic­tate our lives, they bring forth the accom­pa­ny­ing thoughts and it’s wel­come to self-sabotage land. And that’s applic­a­ble in all aspects of our lives, not just for weight loss.
