We got this email the other day, Celisa’s story is not only inspir­ing, but also presents how noth­ing really stops you from striv­ing to achieve what you set out to:

“It’s Celisa from the other night’s con­fer­ence call. I would first like to say how blessed I was that I got to talk to Laura. THE Laura Silva Que­sada! That was so incred­i­ble! Any­ways, there were a lot of other things that I wanted to say but given the time restraint, I held back. I men­tioned in the call that I had gone back to col­lege but what I didn’t men­tion is the fact that all of my edu­ca­tion is being payed for! Not one dime is com­ing out of my own pocket! I had always been a lit­tle weary of col­lege life because I had heard all these sto­ries about peo­ple hav­ing out­ra­geous debts and loans to take care of and on top of all that, I just didn’t think  was smart enough. After the “mir­ror of the mind” tech­nique my desire to be that suc­cess­ful per­son I know I was always meant to be just sort of took over! I fig­ured that cash wasn’t just going to lit­er­ally fall out of the sky but the more I con­cen­trated on that image of me being all that I ever wanted to be, doors started open­ing up all around. I never real­ized how many grants and schol­ar­ships are really out there! Thank good­ness for the peo­ple who sin­cerely want to help oth­ers get educated!

The whole school thing is only part of it. I’m 27 and had already been seri­ously strug­gling with alco­hol and drugs. I had a very good job but was incred­i­bly stressed all the time and so I would turn to my expen­sive habit of crys­tal meth or cocaine and liquor to for­get any resposi­bil­i­ties I had. By the time I came around to remem­ber­ing, I would be com­pletely broke. I had no control.

At the begin­ning of last sum­mer I real­ized I didn’t want to be this destruc­tive per­son I saw in the mir­ror any­more. I wanted to change. I for­got what it meant to have pur­pose or to dream or to wake up not need­ing an “upper.” I started look­ing up things like prayer and med­i­ta­tion on the inter­net and came across names like Jose Silva and Burt Gold­man. They had very inter­est­ing con­cepts, I thought. Definit­ley not the usual “fire and brim­stone!” bit. I was tired of being scared of get­ting sent to hell. I needed some help here! Burt looked like a nice man so I read what he had to say and that intro­duced me to the Silva Method.

Since I started the Silva Life Sys­tem phe­nom­e­nal things have hap­pened. I learned to shift my entire focus or per­spec­tive on pos­i­tive things. I cut back on my drug use a great deal by the time I started the pro­gram but the urge was still very much there. By then I had gained quite a few pounds because I was replac­ing drugs with food. Need­less to say, that didn’t sit too well with me when I actu­ally saw how much weight I had gained! So I began walk­ing a mile a day, then walk­ing half a mile and jog­ging half a mile. Scott, today I walk one mile and run two miles every sin­gle day and I feel FANTASTIC! School is breeze, I think clearly than ever, I’m not stressed or wor­ried about any­thing and best of all, I’m sober and I love it!

I would like to thank Laura for all that she is doing. This could not have come at a bet­ter time for me!”

It’s a lit­tle late, but I really want to share what we all did this New Year’s Eve.

I want to Wel­come you to my fam­ily, my home. We had a great time this New Year’s Eve, and we did click some pic­tures. We had invited some peo­ple, there were some snacks and drinks and every­one had a great time. We had over 60 peo­ple at our place, and it was one great party to start 2009 with.

How “Imagery Therapy” is saving thousands of lives from cancer.. 6

A sixty-one year old man named Frank was diag­nosed as hav­ing a fatal type of throat can­cer. His weight had dropped to 98 pounds, he had trou­ble breath­ing and could barely swal­low. Doc­tors placed his sur­vival rate at 5% and even pon­dered whether he should be placed under radi­a­tion ther­apy, since the treat­ment might only add to his dis­com­fort and not sig­nif­i­cantly increase his sur­vival odds.

After much thought, the doc­tors decided to put him under radi­a­tion treat­ment any­way. For­tu­nately for Frank, Dr. O Carl Simon­ton, then med­ical direc­tor of the Can­cer Coun­sel­ing and Research Cen­ter in Dal­las, Texas, was asked to par­tic­i­pate in Frank’s treatment.

Dr.Simonton sug­gested that Frank him­self had the abil­ity to influ­ence the course of his own dis­ease and taught Frank a num­ber of relax­ation and men­tal imagery techniques.

The treat­ment of visualization

Frank had to visualize…

  • the radi­a­tion he received con­sisted of thou­sands of tiny bul­lets of energy bom­bard­ing his cells.
  • his can­cer cells as being weaker than the nor­mal cells and thus unable to repair the dam­age they suffered.
  • his body’s white blood cells as com­ing in and swarm­ing over the weak­ened can­cer cells
  • flush­ing the can­cer cells out of his body through his liver and kidneys.

The results were aston­ish­ing and far exceeded what usu­ally hap­pens when a patient is treated solely with radi­a­tion ther­apy. Frank expe­ri­enced almost none of the neg­a­tive side effects — the skin and mucous mem­brane dam­age that nor­mally fol­lowed such treat­ment. In a mere two months he had not only regained his weight and strength but all signs of his can­cer had vanished.

Dr. Simon­ton believes that Frank’s remark­able recov­ery was due in part to his daily reg­i­men of visu­al­iza­tion exercises.

Frank is one of thou­sands of can­cer patients that have ben­e­fited from imagery ther­apy through the Simon­ton Can­cer Cen­ter.

Dr. Simon­ton, a Silva grad­u­ate was once asked to address the audi­ence at a Silva Con­ven­tion. “About the Silva sys­tem,” said Simon­ton, “I would say it is the most pow­er­ful sin­gle tool that I have to offer patients.”

In her part of the address, Stephanie Simon­ton, Dr. Simonton’s wife, talked about how they used the men­tal tech­niques at their clinic. “Prob­a­bly the sin­gle most impor­tant tool we have,” she said, “is the men­tal imagery tech­nique.” She then went on to tell the audi­ence of the need for all of us to take per­sonal respon­si­bil­ity for our health. “It is up to us to use the tech­nique that all of you who have had the Silva course have learned and to use it reg­u­larly,” she said.
